I got junk in my trunk...what? what?

So digging through the garage I came across an old antique steamer trunk, aka a wardrobe trunk. It looked disgusting, almost in a state of disrepair. But I remembered a trunk I had seen years ago in a pottery barn magazine that I absolutely adored and wanted desparately for a coffee table, however the price tag was simply to steep for mwah! So I set out in search of the photo in able to try my best at copying, and thanks to the wonderful world of internet I ACTUALLY FOUND IT!!! Here is Pottery Barns version....
(BTW please forgive me God for I coveted the people who actually could afford this!!!)
Here are a few pics of what I had to work with...

Notice the right side, yeah it had been stored on its side and had some funky rotting/goop/mold barnacled (did I just make that word up?) attached to it.
The laundry basket is there simply to show the massiveness of this trunk!

After 3 days of freezing in the garage this is my new Pottery Barn-esque coffee table!
Lovely pic sitting on cardboard in the garage with very poor lighting I know, but eh what can I say I was excited about posting it! Ok time to go paint a table!

before and afters

So recently I have been helping my mom sort through stuff and toss/donate. There have been a few pieces of furniture that I claimed instead of allowing to be donated. I am trying my hand at the cottage shabby chic look and I am having too much fun. Although I am probably spending too much time on redoing stuff and not helping sort through! anyway here are some before and after pics!

                                                                           BEFORE'S
This chair is a chair from Portland Oregon dating back to June 11th,  1919! Sure hope I didn't destroy something worth some $$$$ but I highly doubt it! the leather seat was in horrible condition and I am positive I will be getting sick from asbestos cause the padding was unmentionable!

AFTER'S

well I am back to having fun!
