Addy and I started the New Year off in Tennessee this year. We got to spend a whole week with just us girls...i.e. my mom, sisters, Chris's two daughters and my daughter. The trip however would not be complete without our little knight in shining armor, Cohen!
Yes Ladies, he opens doors, encourages you to "PERSEVERE!!" and what would a knight in shining armor be without his trusty cape and mask in order to seal away his true identity in order to rescue pretty damsels, or in this case Tinkerbell.
Tinkerbell costumes were the theme of the week it seems, as we celebrated Kaitlyn's fourth birthday! She requested a Tinkerbell cake and like my sister she doesn't even like cake (wish I had that problem!) I was quite excited to find out that she does however LOVE marshmallow fondant so she devoured roses all week, as did the other two kiddos :-)
How cute are they!?!?! BTW for those of you who haven't been made to endure the three various Tinkerbell movies over and over and over and over.... Kaitlyn is Rosetta, while Addy is Tinkerbell.
We did a lot of really awesome stuff, I think the adults may have had more fun then the kids to be honest! We went to the Aquarium where I pet a shark, stingray, and held a horseshoe crab, which truly are a little frightening. The place was unbelievable! sharks were everywhere, and we saw things we had never even known existed, like this...
Yes people that is what is called a Saw fish and they are even cooler from above!
Once I find the cord for my video camera I will upload a truly hilarious video of a humongous lizard that looked like it was coming for us, and poor Addy about had a heart attack! seriously it was funny than just about anything I have ever seen!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture!
Anyway we also went to a mirror maze, which was kinda a dud, poor Kaitlyn ran full speed ahead into one of the mirrors, which is not hard to do believe me, and no it did not remind us at all of a certain sister who first learned to run at Okie's in Muskogee, when she saw a TV and took off in a dead sprint, only to realize there were glass doors between her and it. And no I will not mention any names Ashley!
We also went on a Safari Adventure, which was awesome as well! The animals were unbelievable and they were soooo happy, not the pacing in circles like you see so many other places. What was even more awesome is that there were many species of animals combined like turtles could be found alongside wallabies, parrots, and chickens (only they were some weird African chicken thing). Eventually I will share another hilarious video of us talking to a parrot that had no problem talking back!
We also got to feed sheep, goats, geese, and I attempted to feed emus, but they were a little more hostile then one might have thought! I did however successfully engage in a five minute petting session with Joyce, the neighbor hood (if u consider West Africa neighborhood distance) sixty pound porcupine! I even have the foot long quills to prove it!
Later I will post a video of it (as soon as I find my stupid cord!!) but for now here is a pic of the porcupine!
She really was very sweet and that is not a sarcastic statement at all, also a little greasy, but really really sweet!
While all the animals were by far my favorite part, the kids favorite however, was swimming in an outdoor pool while it was snowing like crazy! It really was awesome, steam was coming off the pool (heated BTW) like it was a hot tub. While it was plenty warm in the pool my daughter, who I regret to say this out loud, had only gone swimming in an actual non kiddie pool once before, enjoyed thoroughly climbing the ladder into the freezing air only to jump back in. Mind you I didn't come prepared for swimming so she had no floaties and no suit. She was in her swim diaper and big girl panties and a tank top, so no she was not skinny dipping or streaking! The kid amazes me though. She is truly fearless. Since she had no floaties she would jump to me, mouth wide open, go under completely and I would pull her back up. SWIM LESSONS WILL BE A NECESSITY. (as will dance I have realized!)
Over all the trip was a blast and many memories were made. I couldn't be more blessed to be able to spend the first week of this year with my unbelievable mom, my two awesome/talented sisters, her three darling children, and my little one! Here are a few more pics for fun!
BTW this is Kylee, poor kid didn't get much mention above, because I have never met a more peaceful kid. I don't think I heard the 7 month old cry more than a handful of times! She is so sweet and she loves her brother and sister so much it is adorable! All of my sister's kids are pretty rockin' (and some even sport a rockin' do' thanks to mwah!)
Anyway, hope every one's holiday season was as blessed as ours!
